The CAO’s “Smile….Now Let’s See Your Bite” brochure is also available in English and Spanish, with the brochure and ruler designed to help the public understand the signs of malocclusion and the advantages of orthodontic treatment. This brochure/ruler combination has been field tested nationally and found to be simple to use and very effective; just tear off the ruler and place against the lower front teeth to determine the extent of malocclusion.
In addition to making “Smile……Now Let’s See Your Bite” brochures available in their waiting rooms, some orthodontists distribute them to their referring dentists and other dental colleagues so they may provide an easy, informational way of demonstrating to patients and parents of patients that it is time to make an appointment for an orthodontic exam. Others ask patients to give the brochures to friends and neighbors. Many orthodontist distribute them at schools, fairs or presentations.
