Orthodontic Assistant Permit (OAP) Training Program
The CAO Orthodontic Assistant Permit Training Course has been approved by the Dental Board of California and enables CAO members to train assistants to achieve their orthodontic assistant permit from the Dental Board.
Course Overview
The CAO Orthodontic Assistant Permit Training Program consists of seven modules requiring:
How It Works
- Become a course provider by purchasing the course from CAO and completing the application to the Dental Board of California
- Once approved, begin training your dental assistants using the comprehensive course materials
- After completing all course study, staff take a final examination administered by the Dental Board
- Successful completion allows students to perform expanded duties within your office
All necessary documents and examples to apply as a course provider, train your staff, and help them apply for their permit are included in the course. You’ll need to furnish orthodontic supplies for your students, many of which are routinely found in your office (such as archwires, elastics, etc.).
