Dr. Sheldon Salins is a familiar face in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he combines clinical excellence with a genuine passion for the transformative power of orthodontics. A proud graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) orthodontic residency program, Dr. Salins is committed to advancing both the science and human impact of his field.
What inspired him to pursue orthodontics? “It’s the only field of dentistry that has a profound effect on both the function and health of the teeth and jaws—and on the overall psychosocial welfare of our patients,” he explains. That dual impact is what continues to drive his work each day.
Dr. Salins also serves as a dedicated member of the California Association of Orthodontists, where he finds value far beyond the walls of his practice. “For me, it’s about the relationships with my colleagues and our shared passion for orthodontics outside the clinic,” he says. Whether it’s through collaboration, advocacy, or education, he believes the CAO plays a vital role in shaping the future of the profession.
And when it comes to personal style, Dr. Salins has a signature look—with a practical origin. “I started wearing bow ties after I kept losing tie clips and my ties would fall on patients’ faces,” he shares with a laugh. Functional, stylish, and unmistakably Dr. Salins.
