KSDK News interviewed Kyle, a patient that thought he was getting a great deal with mail-order braces, but has paid the price after complications with his treatment. Kyle can’t bite down properly as a result of the aligners moving his teeth into the wrong position. Companies that provide mail-order braces do not consult with their patients in person and an orthodontic specialist is never present to assess and plan out the course of treatment. This hands-off method causes teeth to be moved into unsuitable positions, like Kyle’s, and a host of other issues that could be avoided with high-quality treatment in an orthodontic office, including x-rays and 3-D mapping.
