Dangers of Bubbly Drinks with Dr. Jeffery Kwong

Dr. Jeffery Kwong sat down with KFBK Radio to discuss the dangers of bubbly drinks.
“Anything with carbon dioxide with carbonic acid to make the acid is definitely a concern because the acid will cause an erosion of the teeth.” Orthodontist, Dr. Jeffery Kwong said moderation is key. “If you’re consuming them all day long, nonstop, you’re going to run into some more issues.”
Add the sugar, like in soda pop and prosecco, “you’re definitely at more risk and what we can start to see is not only the acid in the eroding your teeth but when you leave sugars on there, those are actually the food for bacteria. The bacteria, of course, produce more acid.”
If you can’t pass on the bubbly, drink through a straw and rinse your mouth with water after.
